While green pepper can be substituted for black pepper, the flavor character of the meal will be altered. In comparison to the spiciness of black pepper, green pepper has a more mild, fruity flavor. If you do not have green pepper on hand, you can substitute black pepper for a different, albeit equally wonderful, curry.
